The City maintains a storm siren located behind the Dollar General store.  The siren is triggered when there is a TORNADO WARNING issued by the National Weather Service for any locality in Carroll County. Tornado warnings in adjoining counties DO NOT trigger the siren nor do any severe thunderstorm warnings.  Responsibility for triggering the siren rests with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. In addition, the Mayor and City Recorder have the capability to activate the siren if there is an immediate TORNADO WARNING for Clarksburg and the Sheriff's Office has not responded in a timely manner. The siren is tested weekly by the City Recorder at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays.
